How to troubleshoot Display & Graphic issues (No image output, flickering or blurry screen)?

If you encounter problems such as a blurry image, flickering, or no display output while playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, don’t worry — these issues are often related to simple connection or setting errors. Try the steps below to restore proper image output.

Step 1: Check Your Cables and Connections

A loose or faulty connection is a common cause of display issues.

  1. HDMI Cable: Ensure the HDMI cable is securely plugged into both your PlayStation 5 and your TV or monitor. If possible, try a different HDMI cable.
  2. HDMI Port: Try plugging the HDMI cable into a different HDMI port on your TV to rule out a faulty port.
  3. Direct Connection: If you have other devices connected to your display, try disconnecting them and connecting your PS5 directly to the TV.

Step 2: Adjust PS5 Video Output Settings

If the cables are secure, the next step is to adjust your video settings.

  1. From the home screen, go to Settings.
  2. Select Screen and Video.
  3. Go to Video Output.
  4. Here, you can try adjusting the following settings:
    • Resolution: While your PS5 should automatically detect the best resolution, you can try manually setting it to see if it resolves the issue.
    • 4K Video Transfer Rate: If you are experiencing screen flickering, try changing this setting from Automatic to -1 or -2. This can help stabilize the signal.
    • HDR: If your screen is blurry or colors appear washed out, try turning the HDR setting off.

Step 3: Change Video Output in Safe Mode

If the display remains black or unstable, you can reset the video output through Safe Mode.

  1. Turn off your PS5 completely. Do not use Rest Mode.
  2. Press and hold the power button on the console until you hear a second beep (about 7 seconds) to boot into Safe Mode.
  3. Connect your controller with a USB cable and press the PS button.
  4. In the Safe Mode menu, select the option Change Video Output.
  5. Select Change Resolution and choose a lower resolution, like 1080p. The console will restart with a working display.
