The HUD in the game is designed to keep you informed of everything important without distracting you from the main thing - survival in the Zone.

Here is what you will see on the screen:

  • Health and Stamina Indicator - located at the bottom left. It shows how much damage enemies or anomalies have done to you and for how much longer you can move or fight hand-to-hand. Be careful not to get to the verge of death at an important moment.
  • Effect Icons - above the health indicator, icons of effects that are currently affecting the character may appear: bleeding, hunger, drowsiness, overload.
  • Radiation level - a round indicator in the lower left corner. If this indicator starts to fill, move away from the radiation source as soon as possible and use radiation protection immediately.
  • Quick Access Slots - in the lower left, just above the health and effect indicators, four slots are displayed where you can assign various healing and other supplies through your inventory: first aid kits, bandages, food, radiation medication, energy, so you can use them quickly.
  • Ammo counter - at the bottom right you can always see how many rounds of ammunition are left in the magazine, how many more are in the inventory, and what type of ammunition and fire mode is being used.
  • System and mission notifications as they appear. System notifications appear on the right side of the screen and let you know that you have gained or lost an item, a map area has opened, you have received a journal entry or the coordinates of a hideout, and so on. Mission notifications appear on the left, and you can use them to find out that you have received a new mission, completed or failed a mission or a certain stage of it, etc.

Additional notifications (you can’t see them all simultaneously) can be shown in the HUD:

  • Accessories selector for the current weapon - here you can attach scopes, magazines, silencers, and under-barrel weapons. Of course, to do this, the weapon must support such modifications and these accessories must be in your inventory.
  • Item selector (radial menu) - allows you to switch between primary and secondary types of weapons, grenades, choose a shooting mode and ammunition, pick up a detector, bolt, turn on a flashlight, or remove any items from your hands.

There is a compass at the top of the screen that helps you navigate the world without opening a map. Its main symbols:

  • N, S, E, W - cardinal points
  • Combat mode indicators: red light  - you are in combat, there are enemies nearby.
  • Gray crosses indicate corpses that have something in their inventory.
  • The orange marker  is the main mission, the blue marker is a side mission.
  • Various white markers are stalker hideouts, hubs, places to sleep, etc., and are definitely worth a visit.
  • Traders, technicians, medics, and guides have their own markers.
  • You can add your own markers to the map and they will be displayed on the compass. There are two ways to add markers: quickly add a standard marker (press Ctrl-click / on the gamepad A) and add a marker using the custom marker selection menu (hold down the RB of your mouse or press TAB, move the mouse, release the RB or Tab). Types of custom labels: custom marker, anomaly, hazard, loot, radiation.

To view all the custom labels, open the PDA > section Map > Legend.
