1. The Main Types of Weapons

  1. Pistols
    • Pros: Lightweight and convenient, pistols allow for fast switching. They’re common, effective at close range, and can be used simultaneously with a detector.
    • Cons: Low firepower and limited range make pistols nearly useless in serious, long-range fights.
    • Tips: Use a pistol as a backup when you run out of ammo for your main weapon, or to finish off an enemy at close range.
  2. Submachine Guns
    • Pros: Offer automatic fire with a higher rate of fire than pistols, more mobility than rifles, and low recoil. They also use cheaper ammo, so you can keep a decent supply.
    • Cons: Shorter range than rifles, and ammo depletes quickly in automatic mode—watch your rounds!
  3. Assault Rifles
    • Pros: Versatile, effective at various ranges, and well-balanced in terms of accuracy, velocity, and damage.
    • Cons: Can be heavy and drain ammo quickly in extended combat. Recoil is significant, and spread is wide when shooting from the hip.
    • Tips: Best used at medium range, especially with a scope. Fire in short bursts or single shots to conserve ammo and improve accuracy.
  4. Shotguns
    • Pros: High destructive power at close range, great against mutants and in confined spaces. Often, one shot is enough for an unarmored enemy.
    • Cons: Limited effectiveness at longer distances, unsuitable for open areas. Heavy and require frequent reloading.
    • Tips: Ideal for buildings, tunnels, or mutant lairs. With a shotgun, make each shot count. Some weapons offer an under-barrel shotgun for added flexibility.
  5. Sniper Rifles
    • Pros: Excellent for keeping distance. High range and power let you take down enemies from afar while staying hidden.
    • Cons: Heavy, slow to reload, low rate of fire, and poor handling in close combat. Small clip size and high aiming dependence.
    • Tips: Use for eliminating threats at a distance. Find a high vantage point and scope out the area for potential dangers.
  6. Machine Guns
    • Pros: High rate of fire and large magazine capacity, allowing for extended, continuous shooting.
    • Cons: Extremely heavy, not suited for mobile combat.
    • Tips: Perfect for defending a position or suppressing groups of enemies. It’s easier to control the recoil from a seated position.
  7. Grenade Launchers and Grenades
    • Pros: Great for groups of enemies or opponents behind cover.
    • Cons: Limited ammo that’s hard to find. Careless throws can injure you or your allies.
    • Tips: Some weapons come with under-barrel grenade launchers, adding another firing mode without taking up extra space. Remember, you need to manually exit under-barrel mode to switch back to the main caliber.

2. Additional Modules and Weapon Upgrades

Enhance and customize your weapon to fit your needs with attachments and upgrades. There are two upgrade types:

  • Attachments: These can be added from your inventory or the radial menu and include silencers, sights, magazines, and under-barrel options.
  • Upgrades: Installed by a technician, these include specialized modifications like flame retardants, compensators, and grips.
